Studio Ghibli Strikes Back!

Studio Ghibli's animation director Hayao Miyazaki had retired in 2013. Trillions of fans are waiting for him to come back, and he has come back to Studio Ghibli.


A Breif Introduction of Hayao Miyazaki just in case

Hayao Miyazaki is a Japanese anime anime director, screenwriter and author of Studio Ghibli. He is also the co-founder of Studio Ghibli. Hayao Miyazaki's father was the director of Miyazaki Airplane. After Hayao finished studies of economics at Gakushūin University in Tokyo, from 1963 he started to work as an entry level animator at Tōei Animation. While at Tōei Animation, Hayao met Takahata Isao and Ōta Akemi, and they became Hayao's life-long friends and fellow animators at Studio Ghibli.


Hayao has retired several times throughout his career with the first being in the late 1990s. However, a year later he returned to direct the 2002 Oscar winning Studio Ghibli film Spirited Away. Hayao has still not given any details of his last debute from Studio Ghibli.


Interview with the New York times - Answers to new film?

When Hayao had an interview with the New York times, he did not give much details about the film, but did mention his film was based on Genzaburo Yoshino’s 1937 book How Do You Live? The story follows a teenage boy in Tokyo who moves in with his uncle after his father dies. The novel is surprisingly one of the his favorites. Miyazaki didn’t confirm if the film would have the same name as the book, but when asked why he was returning to direct the film, he simply answered “Because I wanted to.”
